Our commitment

We want Discover Waxhaw to be usable by as many people as possible, including readers who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, or reduced-motion settings. We aim to conform substantially with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

Measures in place

Semantic HTML landmarks with a single descriptive heading per page.
A "skip to content" link as the first focusable element.
Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements.
Descriptive alternative text on meaningful imagery.
Text and background combinations chosen for contrast.
Full respect for the operating system's prefers-reduced-motion setting, which disables decorative animation.
Responsive layouts that reflow without horizontal scrolling on small screens.

Known limitations

Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a finished state. Some decorative imagery carries minimal alternative text by design, some long-form tables may require horizontal scrolling on very narrow screens, and content or behavior served by third parties — including linked external websites and embedded analytics — is outside our control and may not meet the same standard.
